Utah Denies Police Benefits For Meth Exposure

I am disgusted at how Utah takes care of its public servants. The deaths from past meth lab exposure and continued suffering from on the job exposure continues.

We should Stand Up For All Who Take Care of US in Utah, the State is dishonoring them!

Correct News Media Title Salt Lake City Police Bicycle Officer Risks life to save family on horse carriage!

There were many news media groups that picked up this incident. Most did not give the correct full story! Here are a few sample links

will leave it very simply put. The news media frequently does not give police and public safety employees enough credit for jobs done perfectly. The officer on the bicycle totalled his bike and sustained injuries, he is lucky to be alive.

I found a few links to the incident and there are many more, most do not mention his valiant work. I have worked in hotel security for a long time in downtown Salt Lake City, the bike cops are awesome! They do a great underappreciated service! Thank You!

Utah's fallen officers honored with motorcycle ride

As an advocate I am still working to make officer resources and safety a priority in Utah. Recently there have been budget cuts aimed at K9 units and Adult Probation and Parole. These budget cuts jeopardize the lives of officers. We did not have any excess in the Public Safety Budgets in the past; and our population in Utah has grown tremendously. I have also not forgotten the many public safety employees who were exposed to toxic chemicals during Meth Lab arrests. There have been deaths and suffering related to exposure. We must honor those who continue to suffer from the toxins due to on the job workplace exposure.

For those who say we do not need any increases in Public Safety funding, for yourself go to CRIMEREPORTS.com and type in zipcode. The drug and street gang related crimes are extensive, they show up as thefts, car thefts, car prowls, graffiti, robberies, home invasions and much more.
This weekend around Orchard Drive in N.SLC Bountiful area a friend of mine had his OLDER soft top European sports car destroyed by thieves. This was in a well manicured neighborhood, no obvious rough crowd, run down neighborhood crime indicators: The thieves cut the top off the car, stole the stereo, cut the dash, dented the car side, stole the seat covers, the steering wheel covers, the BMW emblems, and damaged the window plus much more. This was a used car bought by a well educated man who had worked his whole life and raised a LDS family. He was retired and had worked hard for this car. Nothing given to him.
Having worked in that area, photographed graffiti in Bountiful and North Salt Lake on the east and west sides, residents say it is a perfect peaceful place. To that I say, no where is immune from gang related drug crimes!

Support Law Enforcement in Utah. Make Public Safety a priority. Please decrease our property crime rates!

Salt Lake County Unified Police Department Questions on Quality of Service

I hope that this "cross borders" control of criminals works longterm. I do have my serious doubts. Based upon Crimereport.com the volume of incidences may spread the officers thin!

Proposed Unified Police Department (UPD)
To include:
- Unincorporated Salt Lake County
- Holladay
- Riverton
- Herriman
- Bluffdale
- Taylorsville; would retain own police dept., but use UPD for services like SWAT, narcotics and gang prevention.

SLC man concerned over slow police response to drunk driver

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=7504047

Understanding How Calls are Prioritized by Dispatchers Can Clarify
Report Comment by Utah Gang Graffiti Researcher @ 10:50pm - Tue Aug 11th, 2009

(1)Just because someone reports an alleged drunk driver does not mean that the person automatically is when the police arrive. The dispatchers will send someone as soon as possible to the location always.
(2)Most importantly;this however, can be delayed due to amount of officers on patrol at the time, and severity of calls right before this incident was called in.In other words sometimes there are not enough officers on duty, or there are enough but an urgent life threatening incident occured, big brawl fight broke out closeby etc.
(3)Having worked in Hotel Security downtown and dealt with issues requiring police assistance regularly, I have the utmost respect for Salt Lake City. They have a great bike patrol and night patrol officers for around the many busy nightclubs and bars downtown.
(4) We must as a society make sure there are no more budget cuts which effect staffing or resources to law enforcement in Utah. The crime has not declined in recent years, and the population and requests for police, fire, emt assistance have increased dramatically.
(5)Without looking at the staffing levels (I do not have access to them)it is fair to say that either there were not enough officers on patrol or it was a hectic time and officers were all busy on calls of higher severity. All calls are prioritized.
(6)I am glad everyone is okay. This is the major reason the public needs to get involved and prevent the person from driving, take away the keys, call a cab.Where were this persons friends? Why was he still being served? Was he on more than just alcohol?

Just a non paid independent gang researcher. I am not a member of law enforcement.
